Mary Bristow

Technician Assistant

Mary grew up in Chicago, where she earned her B.S. in Biology and met her husband (best friend). Mary has always loved animals and knew she wanted to work with animals as a career. She had an opportunity to do a wildlife rehabilitation internship down in South Florida; her and her husband then moved from Illinois to Florida. Eventually, they moved to Gainesville, Florida. Mary attended the Zoo Animal Technology program at Santa Fe Community College and then started a career as a zookeeper at the Lowery Park Zoo in Tampa. Mary and her husband then moved to Brooksville. During her time at the zoo, she helped with injured manatees. Fast forward, Mary moved on to Disney’s Animal Kingdom as a zookeeper and cared for the animals at the Tree of Life. Since, Mary has joined the Animal Medical Center of Brooksville team.

“Working at Animal Medical Center of Brooksville has been great because I’m able to help people take care of their furry loved ones and I work with a great team”.

Mary is also a Hospice Registered Nurse in human medicine. This has helped with her connection with people through their final journeys of their beloved pet’s lives. Mary and her husband have a Mini Goldendoodle, a Yellow-crowned Amazon Parrot, and an African Spur-thighed Tortoise.
