Dr. Karen Taylor-Sorensen attended the North American Veterinary Conference (NAVC) in Orlando, Florida, January 15-17, 2011. At the conference, drug manufacturer, Elanco, announced the release of two new products; Trifexis™ for dogs, and Assurity™ for cats.
For Dogs:
Trifexis™ is a monthly chewable tablet for dogs that kills fleas, prevents heartworm disease, and treats and controls adult hookworm, roundworm, and whipworm infections.
Trifexis™ is the combination of spinosad (Comfortis) for flea control, and milbemycin oxime for heartworm and intestinal worm prevention.
Trifexis™ will be available at Animal Medical Center of Brooksville late January 2011.
For Cats:
Assurity™ is a topical flea control product for cats. Assurity™ has the active ingredient spinetoram. The product received the 2008 Presidential Green Chemistry Award.
Assurity™ will be available at Animal Medical Center of Brooksville Spring 2011.
